P.C.C.M. 50I , Arrival in Denver.

Greetings and welcome to the "I" segment of P.C.C.M 50. So far in our series, we have traveled from all parts of the country with the destination of Perlman Yard in Selkirk, NY. From there several trains have begun their journeys to the towns and cities of their final destinations. P.C.C.M. 50I has traveled from Selkirk, NY. to Elkhart, IN. On to Galesburg, IL. and finally arriving in Denver, CO. The Burlington had a Pool Power agreement with the Penn Central, with locomotives from both railroads traveling the ends of the system. P.C.C.M. 50I is no exception to the agreement. Here we see some PC units arriving in the Mile High City.

First unit in our Pool Power arrangement is CB&Q GP-35 #989. I purchased this Athearn unit in 1979. Despite being almost 40 years old. It's still a solid runner. The old Athearn Blue Box locomotives still soldier on in the high tech world of the 21st Century.

Next in the line up is Penn Central GP-35 #2277. It's a Athearn Blue Box unit as well. Another solid runner, it's sporting custom paint and decals. I hope to add some more of these great units soon.

Some heavy duty GE units bring up the rear. Here is Penn Central U33C #6540.

Penn Central U33C #6557 finishes out out consist of motive power. #6557 was the only U33C on the Penn Central to receive the red "P" logo. Both #6540 and #6557 are Athearn Special Edition units from the 1990's.

Our first car in the block is an Empire Belt boxcar, with a shipment of beer from Heileman Brewery in Empire City, New York. It's final destination is Centennial Beverage Distributors. Lots of happy beer drinkers in Colorado have discovered the fine taste of Heileman Beer!

Next in line is an empty Celanese tank car headed back to the Celanese plant in the Globeville section of Denver. It was last seen at the Ford Plant on the N.Y.C.T.L.

Returning empty from Empire Produce in Empire City, NY. Is a PFE mechanical reefer headed back to the produce fields and growers in California. It will soon be loaded with produce and headed East.

Returning empty from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse in Empire City, NY. is BRMX 5298. It will be headed to the Meat Packing row at Denver Union Stockyards.

Another car headed to the Denver Union Stockyards is this PC covered hopper loaded full of Wort food pellets from Cavendish Spirits. Wort is leftover from the brewing process and makes great beer flavored livestock feed. The livestock in Denver will be enjoying the fine flavor of Cavendish!

Just in time for the big Holiday sales, a shipment of Zenith TV's for Lefty Martin's appliance in Denver. A fixture on Colorado Boulevard, Lefty has been serving generations of customers.

Next up is a shipment of scrap aluminum from Sal's Salvage in West Mill, NY. It's headed to Ball Container in Golden, Colorado. The aluminum will be made into new beverage containers.

Our final car from the West Mill cut of cars, is a covered hopper from GERN Industries. It's headed to Arvada Gern, in Arvada, Colorado. It's delivery of GERN cement flux is guaranteed to make the citizens of Arvada at least 3% happier. If not, their cement will be 3% better overall.

Next in line is a Rock Island covered hopper headed to Gold Medal Flour in the Auraria section of Denver. Auraria is also home to the Tivoli Brewery. It will soon be loaded full of flour for market.

Also headed to the Gold Medal Mill in Auraria is ICG covered hopper #73012

Returning to the West Coast empty is this Western Pacific lumber car. Ready to be loaded with more lumber and paper products from mills in California and Oregon.

Our final car is loaded with canned Georgia Peaches making its way to West Coast markets.

This concludes my segments of P.C.C.M. 50. Really had a great time with everyone in this virtual coast to coast model railroad exchange. Hope you enjoyed the trip as well. Thanks for reading!!!

Really nice job Brian!!! This has been an excellent 50th tribute to the PC. I think all the PC fans are at least 3% happier having followed this virtual op! Get those good looking engines refueled for the turnaround! Looking forward to P.C.C.M. 51!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Great work on helping to celebrate P.C.C.M. 50! I think the management of Heileman Brewery should take a hint of adding 3% more 'happiness' to their process in making beer, sales would skyrocket!

    1. Thank you Sir Neal!!! It's been fun being part of PCCM 50! With that huge GERN plant in West Mill, I'm sure they could come up with a GERN brewing flux that would add a 3% improvement overall to the fine products made by Heileman Brewery.

    West Mill out.

Nicely done Brian! Its fun imagining cars frm my layout in Colorado! I sure like seeing those Athearn units! I'm not familiar with the Special Edition series of the '90s. Should I be looking for such units on eBay or at Flea markets?

    1. Thank you Ralph!!! It's been fun doing the virtual exchange of cars between the layouts. My daughter is having fun watching your videos and making the virtual connections between the layouts. Their is at least one teenager aware of the existence of GERN Industries.
I found my pair of Athearn SE U-Boats on eBay. They are kind of pricey. I got a break on mine. The previous owner had started the handrails. They were in great shape, but not "new" in the box.
