Rocky Mountain Train Show 3/4/18

Greetings and here's Day 2 of the Rocky Mountain Train Show. We'll concentrate on some of the fine layouts that were displayed.

A pleasant surprise right at the start. I walked into the layout section of the show and saw a trio of PC Geeps pulling a mixed freight. I'm not the only PC modeller and fan this side of the Mississippi!

The trio included a GP7, GP9B and a GP9. Very well weathered and detailed.

Also in the same consist, some nicely weathered PC Plug Door Boxcars.

Unfortunately that was about all of the PC action I saw the rest of the show.

The local favorite "Beer Train". Lots of fermented Barley and Hops on their way.

A pair of veteran BNSF SD40-2 units lead a Unit Coal Train.

For Steam Fans a UP Challenger leads a Rail Fan Special on the layout.

A nicely done Cement Plant with Hoppers caught my eye.

The folks at the trailer park get spoiled with a trio of SP SD40T-2 units.

Some more steam action with a SP Cab Forward pulling a train of stock cars.

Buffalo Bill has brought his Wild West Show to town.

For those citizens that spend time on the "other" side of the tracks.

A display of some rare Monorail Train Sets.

A traffic accident on U.S. 85 caused by cattle on the road.

The kids at school watch a pair of SP "Black Widows" roll out of town.

Some Rio Grande "Bumble Bees" lead a coal train around the layout.

Finishing day two at the show, I discovered this nugget of PC fandom.

    1. Thanks E.E.!!!! I agree, the work these guys put into their layouts is incredible. We have a sizable Pennsy fan base out here, but no one admitting a interest in the PC until this show.

  3. Nice follow up Brian!!! Good info on the HO Collector magazine. Nice to see the GP7-GP9B-GP9 PC engines being showcased in Denver! The GP38 known as the iconic or signature PC engine in some circles. Check the numbers, the GP7 / GP9 engines were by far the largest group of engines owned by the PC.

    1. Thank you Sir John!!!! It was nice to see the PC represented in Denver. I agree the GP7 and GP9’s are neglected class of locomotives. I picked up another Athearn GP7 to help represent the overlooked group of them. The magazine was a nice bonus to end the day.
